The Transformation of CADĪnd it took Shapr3D vastly less time to acquire so many customers than the acquisition of the web-based CAD upstart OnShape. “It’s pretty cool if you consider that OnShape had 5,000 paying customers,” says Csanady, referring to the Boston-based CAD company acquired in 2019 by Parametric Technology Corporation (PTC), also of Metro Boston. Full HD screen as well, although the iPad Pro has a resolution of 2048 x 2732 pixels & a Retina display, for comparison. The biggest problem with CAD-with the legacy solutions-is it is tough to buy, very hard to use, and it is essentially unchanged for the last 30 years.Īnother remarkable fact that Csanady shared with me on our call is that it has over 16,000 paying customers. That's got 4,096 levels of pressure with a 4GB GTX 1650 GPU for $1,170 (plus a quad-core i7 & 16 gigs of RAM). Some of the bigger laptops can get pretty hefty (weight & size - "chunky"), so if you plan on using it flipped in your lap with a pen, holding a larger-sized 4-pound+ laptop can get tiring! More functionality on a laptop, but more convenience with the iPad! This gets into the question of whether or not you'd rather have a laptop vs. Outside of the GPU, the biggest factor is really just the screen size & how portable you want it. The M1 Pro in the newer iPad Pro models is about equivalent as well: (GTX 1660 Ti territory)Įxpect to pay between $1k to $2k, depending on what features you want. ![]() Here's the Apple iPad GPU (2020 non-M1 model) vs. So you don't really need a heck of a lot of GPU horsepower to run Sharp3D on Windows. ![]()
